Just a few blocks from the Raleigh Convention Center, the Warehouse District is experiencing a renaissance of repurposed venues and eclectic experiences therein.
Galleries, workshops and museums and even a new food hall are all part of it. Within this iconic industrial-chic area is a thriving arts and culture scene spread over six blocks where every venue has a storied past that is sure to welcome and inspire meetings groups.
The new 22,000-sf Morgan Street Food Hall is the first of its kind in Raleigh, featuring 20 culinary concepts in fully-outfitted spaces that offer cooked-to-order meals and quick bites. Attendees can choose among an array of cuisines and local specialties like Raleigh Rolls, a Thai rolled ice cream stand; the Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine of Sassool; and more, and then settle in at the outdoor patio as a group—craft beers and cocktails flowing. Thirty minutes south of the district, a beer entertainment complex by Aviator Brewing Company is taking shape in an old airplane hangar. This venue is being primed for events and will include a concert stage, distillery restaurant, a mezzanine overlook and more.
At the Videri Chocolate Factory, events for groups of 10 to 20 are taking place in the museum-style factory. Here, “bean-to-bonbon” confection tastings are a real treat and groups can also watch their desserts being made in real-time. Larger events for up to 800 attendees are happening at the CAM Museum, which offers numerous artsy, unusual and innovative backdrops for photoshoots, corporate meetings, receptions and presentations.
The seven-story, 126-room Origin Hotel, located between the Glenwood South and Warehouse District, will offer groups a fun wine and tapas experience when it opens later this year. Another 120+ room boutique hotel, The Willard, will be an urban-style AC Hotel by Marriott and will open in this area in 2021.
