Colorado has some exciting new meetings digs now that the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center officially opened last month.

The fifth Gaylord property is now the largest combined resort and convention center in Colorado in a location just 10 minutes from Denver International Airport. That means 1,501 rooms, 485,000 sf and a massive indoor/outdoor water park are now attracting groups to the Centennial State on this 85-acre site in Aurora.

What makes this Gaylord property standout is its dedication to the local place, with an interior design that brings attendees to the mountains. A 75-foot-tall window offering views of the Rockies defines the Grand Lodge, while waterfalls running over boulders, local artwork and landscaping that incorporates plants native to the state take over the public spaces. But even the guest rooms feature carpets designed to look like aspen trees, with plaid print pillows decorating the beds.

The convention center also brings the mountain spirit inside with snowflake designs. And the F&B features some of the state’s famous microbrews, offering two of its own resort-branded beers in partnership with Dry Dock Brewing Co. that can be enjoyed in the eight dining outlets. Lastly, a 75-foot screen, the largest in the state, is perfect for sporting events or some very massive meetings.

“Adding a western group destination of this magnitude to Marriott Internationals portfolio allows our organization to leverage existing large conference business demand into the property,” says Mike Stengel, senior vice president of Gaylord Hotels at Marriott International. “This spectacular new-build will also create new demand in the market with meetings customers who have never considered Colorado for their events.”
