Despite a few challenges, global telecommunications company Genband and its DMC, Dragonfly Africa, took home the 2014 Crystal Award for “Most Impactful Effort Toward Corporate Social Responsibility as Part of an Incentive Program” at Site’s annual conference last week in Rotterdam.

The winning program was Genband’s President’s Circle incentive trip to South Africa. It included a three-night safari at Kruger National Park, near which the company chose a pre-primary school for its “Give Back to Africa” campaign. The goal was to collection cash donations and new or gently used items from a predetermined list, as well as to visit the school and leave each child—220 in all—with a brand new pair of running shoes. Genband used a dedicated Facebook to communicate with the attendees.
