The $125m Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel is set to open in 2020 and will offer more than 20,000 sf of dedicated meeting space, including a 10,000-sf ballroom.

The property will feature 11 unique event rooms, including four meeting rooms and one boardroom, plus pre-function rooms, multiple event lawns, and breakout rooms. The event spaces will encompass two floors of the 23-floor property, and each second floor meeting room will be named after an iconic jazz legend including Sinatra, Goodman and Fitzgerald. The executive conference center will be situated on the fourth floor, and will feature a meeting room, boardroom and pre-function room.

Additionally, the Seaside Ballroom located on the second floor will be the largest ballroom in Virginia Beach, offering a 1,155 total seating capacity and spanning more than 10,000 sf. Outdoor spaces include the 2,700-sf Seaside Terrace that can accommodate events up to 300 guests, and the 3,750-sf Ocean Lawn that can also play host to more than 300 guests.

“Once opened, the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel will be the ideal destination for both business and leisure travelers offering up modern meeting spaces with some of the most amazing ocean views in the region,” said Michael Platt, complex managing director in a press release statement. “This property, combined with our Historic Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club will collectively offer an unparalleled meeting experience and amenities for corporate meetings and retreat functions.”

The Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront will feature 305 guest rooms with panoramic ocean views, as well as two signature restaurants, an indoor and outdoor pool, and a fully equipped fitness center. An Asian-inspired restaurant located on the rooftop will provide guests with 360 degree views of Virginia Beach and the oceanfront. It will offer a private dining area and outdoor terrace that can be booked for business dinners or corporate events.

The new hotel is part of the Cavalier Resort Complex, a $350m development that also includes the newly renovated four-diamond Historic Cavalier Hotel & Beach Club, a 1927 landmark property that underwent a four-year, $85m refurbishment. The 85-guest room hotel is now a Marriott Autograph Collection property and features farm-to-fork dining, an onsite distillery and luxury spa. Phase three of the complex will include the new Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront, as well as 42 luxury condominiums. The final phase is still in planning and will include an additional hotel and restaurant that are projected to be completed by 2022.
