Iberostar Herceg Novi

As Montenegro continues to gain recognition—named an emerging destination by “Conde Nast Traveler” just last year—Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is investing in the Balkan country in the form of two fully renovated hotels that recently opened under the Iberostar name.

The hotel company has been in the country since 2005 ever since taking over the Iberostar Bellevue, located in Budva. But the latest two—Iberostar Herceg Novi and Iberostar Perast—are situated along the Bay of Kotor, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1979 due to its medieval architecture.

After undergoing a renovation, the 183-room Iberostar Herceg Novi debuted on June 1, touting its own dock and a beach club for groups interested in exploring the bay. Water sports, a Fit & Fun activity program and modern spa are just a few of the amenities of which groups can take advantage. Because of the hotel’s location in a fishing village, attendees can also expect delicious fresh fish dishes to be available in the property’s Mediterranean restaurants.

The new about 59-room Iberostar Perast is situated in an 18th century palace that was originally built for the Smejka family and has recently undergone renovations to maintain its original grandeur. Its location in the seaside town of Perast puts groups in close proximity to some of the region’s most spectacular Baroque architecture, with historic palaces and churches still intact. Plus, groups can visit two small islands nearby—Sveti Dorde, home to a 12th century Benedictine monastery, and Gospa od Skrpjela, an artificial island—as well as Croatia’s Dubrovnik, a mere two hours away.
