Ever since the Obama administration began easing travel restrictions for Americans to visit Cuba in 2016, major hotel companies have begun opening properties that appeal to this new clientele.

The latest: Melia Hotels International opened Paradisus Los Cayos last month, the fourth Paradisus-branded hotel on the island, but the first in Cayo Santa Maria. What makes this resort destination standout is its surroundings. The Buenavista Biosphere Reserve, which features the one of the most dynamic coral reefs in the world, makes up the natural environment at this eco-resort. The all-inclusive property overlooks a beach that stretches a half mile.

With 802 suites and junior suites, it’s also ideal for large groups in search of a relaxed setting, with 34 pools to boot. And attendees don’t even need to venture very far from their hotel room to take a dip, with direct access to pools from the Garden Swim-up rooms. Between the properties 12 restaurants and 14 bars, attendees will also find several diverse F&B options, including Cuban fare and beverages crafted by Cuban cocktail experts.

The property is especially good for top execs with its Reserve and Royal Service exclusive areas. The Royal Service area is an adults-only experience with butler service and a variety of bars and pools to which only these guests have access. And the property’s meeting space abounds with an about 10,000-sf ballroom that can host more than 900 attendees. Of course, there are more unique spots throughout the property for events as well, including on the beach, in the gardens or on terraces overlooking the natural surroundings below.
