Because there’s nothing like fresh air and natural splendor to rejuvenate hard-working attendees, planners love booking time at national and state parks.

These five new national park openings and adventures make 2018 a particularly sound time to head into the wilderness.

Meet at Olympic National Park’s Revamped Resort

In March, the freshly renovated Sul Doc Hot Springs Resort will reopen in Washington’s majestic Olympic National Park. Ideally suited for an executive retreat, the property features 32 rustic cabins fringed by the Pacific Northwest’s famous towering evergreens. Onsite hot springs are perfect for decompressing between brainstorms.

Convene at Mesa Verde National Park’s Refreshed Far View Lodge

The Western-themed Far View Lodge will reopen its doors in April, welcoming groups to stay amid historic Puebloan cliff dwellings. The lodge—the only place to stay in Colorado’s Mesa Verde National Park —boasts 60 revamped rooms with private balconies for once-in-a-lifetime stargazing. The Metate Room, a regionally inspired restaurant at the property, is available for private dining events.

Teach Attendees to Captain a Houseboat at Lake Powell

Starting in April, attendees can learn how to navigate Lake Powell as part of the new Houseboating 101 course, featuring lessons on everything from steering to shoring. There are few better settings for team building than this tranquil lake, which straddles Utah and Arizona at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Plan a Pet-Friendly Gathering at Olympic National Park or Zephyr Cove

Attendees will be thrilled to learn their pets can now tag along to a meeting at both the Cabins at Zephyr Cove Resort, situated on National Forest land in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and Lake Quinault Lodge’s Boathouse at Olympic National Park. When not getting down to business, meeting-goers can bring their four-legged friends along for exploration treks.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side at Asilomar Conference Grounds

Asilomar State Park, situated along California’s breathtaking Monterey Peninsula, has long been a favorite spot for birdwatchers. Event-goers can get in on the avian action at the meetings-focused Asilomar Conference Grounds—and there’s no better time to plan a gathering there than around March 3, World Wildlife Day.
