Groups looking to visit Cuba can do so very easily now with the four- and five-night cruises on Royal Caribbean International’s Empress of the Seas cruise ship.
The ship offers sailings now through Nov. 4, 2017 from Tampa, Fla., to Havana, Cuba. Culture, history and nightlife await attendees through these five experiences offered as part of the cruise itinerary.
Classic Car Ride
Step back in time and ride a vintage American classic car to iconic places such as Hotel Nacional, a luxury hotel in the heart of Havana, and Plaza de la Revolucion, the site where several political rallies once took place.
Old Havana Walking Tour
Take a guided walking tour to visit some of the most historic plazas in Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In between visiting the colorful stands selling antiques, books and other memorabilia, attendees will also learn the history behind some of the murals lining the streets.
Famed author Ernest Hemingway used inspiration from the Cuban people in several of his works. Attendees can visit Hemingway’s home in Finca Vigia as well as Cojimar, the fishing village that inspired his short novel, “The Old Man and the Sea.”
New & Old Havana Bus Tour
For groups who want to see a bit more in a short timeframe, take an air-conditioned bus to sites in New and Old Havana. Attendees will check out El Malecon, a popular seaside avenue where locals gather to cool off and socialize well into the evening. The tour also includes a visit to the Cuban version of the U.S. Capital: El Capitolio Nacional.
A visit to the famous Cabaret Tropicana Night Club will inspire attendees to dance to live salsa music, or groups can watch Latin jazz musicians at Jazz Cafe. Back on the ship, Empress of the Seas continues the Cuban vibe at Boleros, a two-level entertainment space with salsa dancing and hand-rolled cigars.
