On the heels of opening the first tri-branded Marriott in the US, the hotel company hits the ground running with another first: the world’s largest Residence Inn.

Marriott’s Residence Inn brand has long been a go-to for extended stays and the new 390-suite Residence Inn Calgary Downtown/Beltline District property, the 800th for the brand, entices guests to do just that. Built where the historic Alberta Boot Company once stood, the property captures Calgary’s western history, whether this means floor-to-ceiling murals or cowboy boot stitching incorporated into all guestroom bed headboards.

Designed for long stays, the Residence Inn brand offers separate living, working and sleeping zones, making it a popular fit for business travelers and groups. Suites feature living and sleeping areas and fully-equipped kitchens, and attendees can also enjoy complimentary grocery delivery service and daily hot breakfast, a 24-hour market and a 24-hour bi-level state-of-the-art fitness facility.

Groups of up to 175 have access to free WiFi throughout, as well as nearly 6,500 sf of naturally-lit meeting space with built-in technology, including flexible meeting rooms and dedicated gathering spaces for meals, breakout sessions, one-on-one meetings, and more, with built-in multimedia technology. Additionally, the Lounge and Terrace offers light meals complemented by regionally-infused crafted cocktails, West Coast wines and local beer selections, and a wine bar is on its way to the lobby.

The property’s prime location in the Beltline District, meanwhile, is steps away from downtown Calgary, offering attendees close access to some of the city’s main attractions, including the Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Tower, Studio Bell, and the unique performance venue, Stampede Park.

“Stampede City is the perfect place for Marriott International to debut the largest Residence Inn in the world,” said Don Cleary, president of Marriott International in Canada, in a press release. “Calgary is a key market for extended-stay travel and we are delighted to launch the city’s third Residence Inn, widening the accommodation options available to business travelers whilst also putting Calgary’s most popular cultural attractions within easy reach of our long-stay leisure guests.”

“Canada has become a key market for the brand’s continued expansion and we look forward to Residence Inn’s continued growth in the country,” added Janis Milham SVP and global brand leader for classic select brands at Marriott International.
