New dining venues on Cunard’s remastered Queen Mary 2 offer immersive culinary experiences at sea.
Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 underwent a significant remastering last year that included new dining and cocktail venues and refreshed menus for groups in search of culinary experiences at sea.
“Cunard offers luxury on a grand scale. Our ships provide an atmosphere of luxury and service often thought to be available only on smaller ships,” says Steve Smotrys, director of national sales for Cunard in North America. “One of the most salient distinctions is allowing attendees to order off the menu in our suite accommodations, our Princess and Queens Grill suites, with each having their own dedicated dining rooms. With some advance notice the dining staff can prepare special request dishes.”
The Verandah Reimagined
The Verandah restaurant debuted in July 2016, after having proven popular on the Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth. It offers regional French cuisine, and takes its name and inspiration from the Verandah Grill onboard the original Queen Mary, which was the exclusive restaurant for its first class guests. Menu items include ravioli of Scottish langoustine, loin of Gloucester old spot pork, and fillet of wild turbot with espelette chilli crevette.
Vintage Port Collection
Also added during the Remastering is the Carinthia Lounge, which is open all day and evening and serves light bites. It has a full bar that boasts the most significant collection of vintage Ports at sea, with the earliest dating back to 1840 when the Cunard line was founded and serves light bites.
Culinary programming for groups includes mixology classes in the Commodore Club, a sophisticated lounge that offers craft cocktails. A series of artisan cocktails was created last year featuring drinks inspired by some of the Cunard line’s most venerable Commodore’s during its 175+ years at sea. Groups can put in the hard work of learning how to make some of these craft drinks (somebody’s gotta do it) as a team building activity, as well as enjoy wine, whiskey and vintage port tastings.
