Atlantic City: Spas by the Sea

Mixers with passed hors d’oeuvres, strolling masseuses, mini-facials and acupuncture treatments, served amid the heated mineral pools, hammam, and Himalayan-salt grotto of the coed bathhouse are just one of the unusual ways incentive groups incorporate Revel’s new Bask by Exhale spa into their Atlantic City programs.

“We handle groups up to 400 people and some aren’t even based at Revel,” says Christine Papaspanos, marketing manager. “The bathhouse can also be rented as an after-hours private nightspot, bringing in Vegas-style music and entertainment.”

The spa is located in the lavishly expansive Revel, an ambitious luxurious casino/beach resort that opened last year at the northern end of the boardwalk. As though the 32,000 sf spa were not enough, Bask can hold mind/body classes on the beach, the boardwalk and around the resort, says Cary Zdenek, spa director.

“We can provide a relaxing day of spa and fitness activities, including our signature Core Fusion and SurfSET (combines yoga, pilates and surfing on land) classes to challenge and change the body,” she explains. “We also do Zumba, yoga and teambuilding focused classes…. Most groups focus their programs on our unique, coed 6,000-sf bathhouse.” This February, the bathhouse added an Infusion Bar serving spa-inspired cocktails and light bites.

Over at Borgata Hotel’s Spa Toccare, they recently added Zumba and yoga, which they adapt to suit visiting groups, says Jennifer Aarons, director of spa operations.

“We also can create a customized spa menu of select services for incentive groups.” Incorporating spa into a group experience offers more than a chance for group members to enjoy themselves, she says. “It’s a great subliminal opportunity for teambuilding.”

One of the unique aspects of Borgata is that they offer two different spas as options for guests. This helps them to accommodate different sizes of groups and tailor the experience to their needs. Spa Toccare has 31 treatment rooms located near The Salon and Barbershop. “This allows groups to offer combination service experiences of spa, salon and barbershop and is perfect for larger groups interested in providing a variety of choices,” says Aarons.

The Immersion Spa, located on the 32nd floor of The Water Club, offers a more intimate setting where groups can relax and rejuvenate while enjoying amazing views of Atlantic City and the ocean, she adds. “Guests can relax by the lap pool and enjoy F&B from our spa cuisine menu by culinary lifestyle consultant and Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian.”
