Unique experiences and significant new development drives meetings innovation in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis is experiencing major development with more than 2,500 downtown hotel rooms in the pipeline, including boutique hotels and a new 800+ room hotel attached to the convention center.

“To stay competitive, drive repeat attendance and leave a positive impact on attendees, meetings and events have to be engaging experiences,” says Daren Kingi, senior VP of sales at Visit Indy. “Designing experiences is now the role of the meeting planner, and our city and staff are well positioned to help planners achieve their visions.”

Unique experiences in the city include a visit to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway or a walking tour exploring local author Kurt Vonnegut’s Indianapolis. The historic Fountain Square building offers meeting space, as well as a restored vaudeville theatre, vintage duckpin bowling alley and a rooftop cocktail bar.

“Our city partners are collaborative to an extent you won’t find in other cities,” says Kingi. “Our community wants every event to succeed and to raise the bar for future events, and we work closely with event organizers to ensure that happens.”
