Meetings innovation isn’t reserved solely for big city events. Unique experiences in small- and mid-size destinations such as Virginia Beach are just as exciting.

Following a $75 million renovation, the historic Cavalier Hotel has reopened its doors in Virginia Beach. Originally built in 1927, the property has hosted everyone from author F. Scott Fitzgerald to Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and Al Capone. Its 2,500-sf grand ballroom boasts glittering chandeliers and opulent decor that will add glamor to any event, and the hotel itself includes three restaurants, a distillery and a spa.

Virginia Beach offers a new perspective on meetings with diverse out-of-the-boardroom experiences that allow attendees to immerse themselves in our coastal culture,” says Todd Bertka, VP of convention sales and marketing at the Virginia Beach CVB. “With unique meeting settings from venues overlooking the ocean to performance centers and museum, coupled with our flourishing culinary and emerging craft beer scene, meetings are better at the beach.”

Innovative venues in Virginia Beach include the Military Aviation Museum, which houses one of the largest collections of military aircraft in the US. Event spaces include a 12,000-sf WWI hanger, and a flyby or full private airshow can be arranged for groups.
