Gearing up for summer, the 307-room Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, Fla., is right in the middle of hosting its second annual Body & Mind Weeks program that will last until June 3.
The program brings world-famous brands, nutritionists, wellness professionals and coaches to participate in exhibitions, one-on-one coaching and training sessions that all focus on three health initiatives: sports, nutrition and wellness. Experts include Gabe Jaramillo, who has trained tennis pros such as Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras; Albert Hannemann, director of volleyball and a U.S. Olympic Festival gold medalist; and Sergio Rios, beach volleyball coach and a former member of Colombia’s national team.
In addition to learning from the famous sports pros, groups staying at the resort can take nutrition seminars, cooking classes, guided yoga and meditation. The resort even partnered with FitBodies by adding daily yoga classes led by FitBodies guest instructors and is offering other trendy fitness programs such as Zumba and spinning.
The Body & Mind Weeks program emphasizes the year-round fitness offerings at Florida’s only all-inclusive resort for groups looking to meet and be active. The multi-sport resort center is comprised of 20 tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course and several sports activities such as beach volleyball, kayaking, sailing and, perhaps the most random, a flying trapeze and circus school.
