Enhanced business travel apps keep employees and their companies in the know on the latest health and safety threats. One-touch emergency assistance, instant outreach, and specific information on women’s and LGBTQ safety are among the features.
Here are some of the latest business travel apps:
AIG Travel
AIG Travel, a global travel insurance and travel-related services company, recently partnered with GeoSure to enable its AIG Travel Assistance App to provide hyper-local, specialized information for more than 65,000 cities and neighborhoods. Safety categories include sections on women’s and LGBTQ+ safety as well as physical harm, political freedoms, health & medical and overall safety. The app also provides users with security travel alerts, a medical and drug translation tool, a one-touch “help” button connecting travelers directly to emergency travel assistance, and other information.
International SOS
International SOS, a medical and travel security services firm, recently enhanced its Assistance App to work with TravelTracker. Participants have the option to check-in at their destinations so their employers can contact them in case of a crisis. The app provides travelers with one-tap access to the closest International SOS Assistance Centre for immediate help. It also provides itinerary based medical and security information and alerts and advisories before and during a trip along with useful cultural tips, and more.
WorldAware
WorldAware, a global risk management and crisis response firm, recently launched Worldcue Communicator, a mass notification service that offers fast two-way communication to individuals or groups worldwide. Users can see their location in relation to an area where an incident is occurring and can signal distress or check-in via a pre-agreed plan. Then, with a single click, two-way communication can be started. The app can also relay corporate messages and provide health; cultural and other destination information.
IMG GlobalSecur
IMG GlobalSecur, a global travel security company, offers the FoneTrac travel security app, designed to provide affordable, easy access to emergency security and optional medical assistance. FoneTrac does not monitor traveler locations continuously except during an emergency. Instead, travelers use check-in and panic buttons so the company can intervene if needed. FoneTrac also proactively notifies users of situations that may impact their safety.
U.S. State Department Apps
The U.S. government offers two free apps: the U.S. State Department Smart Traveler app, the official State Department app for U.S. travelers, provides access to official country information, travel alerts and warnings, and more, while the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) enables users to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Enrollees receive updates as needed from the Embassy and help the U.S. Embassy to reach out in case of an emergency.
