The Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, Calif., will be the site of FICP’s Annual Conference November 12 to 15.

Financial & insurance conference planners will find education directed toward their specific needs through FICP, the industry association.

We recently joined FICP’s Education Committee and will assist in developing content for its programs throughout 2017 and 2018. Financial & Insurance Conference Planners has 5 live events a year. The FICP Education Forum June 26 to 28 at the Montage Palmetto Bluff is a three-day event, a mix of industry speakers, networking activities and education sessions, and registration is limited to keep it an intimate atmosphere.

This year’s program includes sessions focused on tools and techniques to help planners do their jobs, such as “Cut Through the Clutter: Tools to Help Manage Your Inbox,” featuring Dahlia El Gazzar, FICP’s tech evangelist, from DAHLIA+, as well as industry-specific sessions such as “Key Trends Affecting the Insurance and Financial Services Industry in the Next 5 Years,” where Todd Silverhart, corporate vice president & director, insurance research at LIMRA, will discuss regulation, the changing consumer, technology, innovation, and talent management as they pertain to this sector.

In contrast to the summer Education Conference, the Annual Conference, which will be held November 12 to 15 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, Calif., is a four-day event that combines educational offerings and networking activities with The Network Live, a trade show that connects planners with hospitality partners. This year, an “Experience Zone” will offer attendees hands-on training and exposure to innovative products and technologies and a Speaker Showcase will feature three speakers in a single session, including one from Afterburner, which was created by U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Jim “Murph” Murphy to train organizations in performance improvement.

FICP also offers three shorter symposia, open to all members but ideal for planners who prefer a regional event. The winter event was held in January in Boston, the Summer Symposium is August 24 to 25 at Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel and the Fall Symposium is September 13 to 15 at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Fe.
