Scandinavian Airlines: Getting Even Closer to Scandinavia

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) continues its planned expansion, and effective April 8th, a direct route between San Francisco and Copenhagen will start operation.

North America is an important and growing market for SAS. A large number of International and Scandinavian companies have expressed a strong desire for a direct connection between the U.S. West Coast and Scandinavia, and SAS is pleased to offer this new route, with 6 weekly frequencies from San Francisco to Copenhagen.  SAS’s main hub in Copenhagen offers fast and efficient transfers to an extensive SAS and SAS partner route network in Scandinavia to many other European cities.

SAS has already announced a new service concept, replacing the previous service classes with two brand new alternatives:  SAS Go for customers who want to have a lot and SAS Plus for customers who want to have more.  We have worked with our customers to develop these products, which meet the increasing demand for smoother and more time-efficient journeys for both leisure and business passengers. On transatlantic flights SAS Business remains unchanged.  The new service concept takes effect on June 1st.

SAS is the only airline to fly nonstop between San Francisco and Copenhagen.  The route will be operated by an Airbus 340-300 with 245 seats divided into 3 cabins: SAS Business, SAS Plus (Premium Economy) and SAS Go (Economy).

SAS departs from San Francisco to Copenhagen daily, except Tuesdays, at 5:35 pm arriving the next day in Copenhagen at 1:15 pm. Departures from Copenhagen will be daily, except Tuesdays at 12:25 pm, arriving San Francisco at 2:24 pm same day. Flying time will be 11 hours and 20 minutes. These departure times provide the best transfer opportunities to cities in Scandinavia/Europe and the US.

A large number of SAS passengers have expressed a strong desire for additional departures from Newark to Copenhagen. By popular demand, SAS is pleased to bring back its late evening flight with 4 weekly frequencies from Newark to Copenhagen departing at 11:30pm. These new frequencies will provide even greater travel flexibility for both business and leisure travelers.

SAS operates nonstop service from New York (Newark) to Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, from Chicago to Copenhagen and Stockholm, from San Francisco and Washington, D.C. to Copenhagen. From its hubs at Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, SAS serves cities throughout Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the rest of Europe.
