Space Incentives Will Soon Lift Off

Looking for an incentive trip that is out-of-this-world, literally? It will soon be attainable. The Von Braun Station, a hotel that will float among the stars, is closer to reality as The Gateway Foundation has released plans for this extraterrestrial project. The goal is to have Von Braun Station, that will sleep 352 with a maximum capacity of 450, to begin operation in 2025 and be fully complete by 2027. It will consist of a hotel and luxury suites, recreation rooms, restaurants, and bars. How is this for an off-site excursion? The plan is to eventually offer trips via spaceship to other space stations, and to the moon.

According to the Gateway Foundation, the brainchild of this project, going to space will soon be just another travel option. Space tourism for the average person is on the brink of a major breakthrough,” says Tim Alatorre, senior design architect, Gateway Foundation. “With the dramatic increase in private companies providing low-cost launch services to orbit , there has never been a time in history where it has been more financially feasible to travel in space.”

The goal of the Gateway Foundation is to have the Von Braun operational by 2025 with 100 tourists visiting the station per week. By 2030 the goal is to have two stations in orbit with a population of at least 500 permanently living in orbit and 200 tourists per week.

This isn’t the only extraterrestrial property in the works. Aurora Station, a brainchild of space tech startup Orion Span, has a luxury space hotel in the works that it hopes to open in 2022. Plans are for Aurora Station to sleep 12.

Getting there will not be as challenging as you might imagine as Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin are aerospace companies working on space travel. This story originally appeared in sister publication, Recommend.
