PlanetIMEXOctober 12–16 heralds the return of PlanetIMEX, promising meeting and events industry professionals an enhanced program and seamless virtual user experience with a full week of creative and educational content delivered by memorable and inspiring speakers.

The IMEX Group launched PlanetIMEX in May, and continuing its partnership with Cvent to power registration, and working with new suppliers GRIP and Event.Video, developed this event with content directly inspired by event professionals through surveys conducted by the IMEX Group. This new light-hearted interactive experience has been redesigned with a whole new look and feel, plus new functionality and features inspired by audience feedback following the launch edition.

PlanetIMEX was originally designed as a destination in its own right with 3D, interactive islands. Its intention was to keep the spirit of IMEX alive following the cancelation of IMEX Frankfurt, the largest annual trade exhibition for the meetings, conventions, events and incentive travel industry, originally scheduled for May 12-14, 2020.

“It has undoubtedly been a difficult year for all of us, but we are deeply committed to supporting the IMEX mission to unite and advance the meetings industry. Together, we can support the successful transition to virtual and hybrid events and secure an even brighter future for the global meetings and events industry,” says Jamie Vaughan, vice president, European Sales at Cvent.

Following its May launch, the group has sought to simplify the user journey to make it easier for visitors to explore and source the content and the speakers that are right for them, says Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Groups. “Working with GRIP enables us to provide a single user experience with learning, polls, discussions and networking all on one platform. GRIP uses AI to match users with one another and also provides recommendations of which learning sessions best suit their interests – this delivers a highly personalised experience for each visitor, one that better reflects our company values and strategic priorities,” she further explains.

“PlanetIMEX is a bold and exciting concept for virtual experiences, the goal of engaging the community through content and connection perfectly aligns with our own vision of the industry. We’re now seeing event organisers increasingly establishing themselves as community owners bringing people together virtually and of course through in-person events.” Tim Groot, CEO and Co-Founder at GRIP, says.

“We’re confident that all of these providers are a strong fit for our current needs, delivering new functionality and features, and helping us make a big, new and exciting splash with our fresh look PlanetIMEX this October,” Carina concludes.
