Cooking Traditional Italian Meals in Rome’s Royal Suite

Groups can now meet in a space fit for a queen (or king). Regina Hotel Baglioni in Rome recently unveiled its new Roman Penthouse Suite. Fronting 360-degree views of iconic sites such as the Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum, the 6,028-sf suite is an ideal place to host an authentic Italian dinner or reception for smaller groups of eight to 10 people.

The space was designed by Milanese Architects Rebosio+Spagnulo and features a modern Italian design with soft colors of beige and cream. Crystal chandeliers, silk tapestries and marble floors decorate the suite, which includes three bedrooms, a dining room, a private kitchen and a private bar. The 3,122-sf of private terraces are lined with potted plants and flowers, and invite guests with the comfy white patio furniture sprawled throughout the space.

Groups enjoying the suite are provided with a complimentary private chef, who will work with meeting planners to create customized menus. The chef can also lead cooking classes and share cooking tips with attendees on how to make signature Mediterranean and traditional Italian dishes, as well as provide insight into the best shops to buy local food. Attendees will learn how to craft some of Chef Luciano Sarzi Sartori’s secret recipes such as spaghetti alla carbonara, using pasta from Abruzzo, Italy. Similarly, a private barman is available to mix personalized Italian cocktails and host Italian wine tastings.

The hotel is located on Via Veneto, one of the most famous and expensive streets in Rome, made famous by the 1960’s film La Dolce Vita. It is named after the previous royal resident, Queen (“Regina” in Italian) Margaret of Savoy. The design of the suite, as well as the rest of the hotel’s 118 rooms and suites, pays homage to the Queen and captures the essence of true Italian style.

“The Roman Penthouse is the most exclusive apartment in the heart of La Dolce Vita,” says Luca Virgilio, general manager at the property. “Located on the eighth floor, guests are welcomed in a modern Art Deco-style setting, enriched by unique design pieces and furniture. The suite is the perfect venue for small meetings, business gatherings, gala evenings, private receptions and dinner up to 10 people. The private terraces can be used for coffee breaks and relaxing moments.”
