Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs Heats Up the Music Scene, Cools Down the Desert

Southern California was hotter than usual this morning as the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs officially opened its doors to the public. The unveiling of the newly remodeled 163-room luxury hotel, which promises a steady who’s-who of music and hotel industry movers and shakers, comes at the heels of a recent partnership with Goldenvoice, owners of the world-famous Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals.

“We can’t wait to show off our amazing collection,” says Hector Moreno, vice president and general manager for the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs. “Our guests will get to see items from the biggest legends in musical history, as well as memorabilia from contemporary superstars like Maroon 5, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna and so many other incredible performers.” Introducing this amazing collection is a unique, interactive lobby sculpture made of 500 recycled loud speakers and electronic parts such as amplifiers, radios, tuners and more. The display, designed by Berlin-based artist Benoit Maubrey, was designed to help guests “communicate” with music.

Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs’ opening ceremony kicked-off last night to the flashing of the brand’s signature purple and white lights, entrees from Sessions, the resort’s sophisticated but decidedly edgy restaurant, and the sizzling sounds of Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and lead vocalist Bob Forrest of The Bicycle Thief.

As a premier music and pool scene in the desert, the hotel includes the groundbreaking, interactive amenity “The Sound Of Your Stay®,” which offers guests hands-on music experiences through guitar room service and its complementary 20 Fender electric guitars. With DJs spinning poolside, the hotel boasts a happening aquatic dance floor and possible starting point to get your groove on.

Music memorabilia chosen from the 74,000 prized possessions stored in the depths of the “Rock Vault” in Orlando, FL, adorns the hotel, reflecting the city’s rich history and eclectic musical past. Autographed guitars, world tour costumes, rare photographs, original contracts and a hodgepodge of other treasured materials from almost every music genre tell the tales of music legends then and now. Highlights include a corduroy jacket owned and worn by the late Johnny Cash, electric guitar legend Jimi Hendrix’s 1960s fringe jacket and original photos from the artwork of the Who’s epic 1973 album, Quadrophenia.

Event spaces at the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs span the gamut of meeting needs, from a celebratory ambiance and its plugged-in vibe to low-key and downright mellow. There is 20,500-sf of meeting space available equipped with all of the bells and whistles needed for a show-stopping event. The 6,000-sf patio terrace and its spectacular mountain views is a great spot for intimate gatherings or large events.
