After a two-month shutdown, several Las Vegas casino resorts are planning a reopening Post-COVID on June 4.
Thing is for now, post-COVID, the new Vegas will look very different. To start, there will not be any shows or nightclubs. Casinos will be at half-capacity.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued a statement saying, “Based on the positive trends in our data, I have informed the Chair of the Gaming Control Board that I feel confident in the June 4th target date.”
Among those casino resorts reopening on June 4 include those on the famed Strip: New York-New York Hotel & Casino, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Bellagio, MGM Grand Las Vegas and The Signature, Caesars Palace, the Flamingo Las Vegas, the Venetian, and Wynn Las Vegas. Off the strip, Station Casinos and Boyd Gaming resorts are opening on this same date.
Caesars also reports that several retail and dining outlets along The LINQ Promenade, as well as the High Roller Observation Wheel, will reopen.
Both Caesars Palace and the Flamingo will offer lodging, dining options and access to their outdoor pools, as well as slot machines and table games. All offerings will operate in a manner consistent with physical distancing guidelines.
Caesars expects Harrah’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and the gaming floor at The LINQ Hotel & Casino to be the next properties in Las Vegas to reopen, with timing based on customer demand.
Caesars Palace and the Flamingo will implement the company’s previously announced, enhanced health and safety protocols. Management at both properties is focused on the well-being of team members, guests and the community, and will work to create an environment with enhanced standards of sanitization and physical distancing practices.
MGM Resorts International will be reopening Bellagio, New York-New York, MGM Grand Las Vegas and The Signature. At opening, amenities at all properties will be limited, and as demand for the destination builds, additional venues within these resorts will open and other MGM Resorts properties on The Strip will reopen.
“Our hearts go out to everyone in the communities where we operate, and around the world, who has been personally impacted during this time of crisis,” said Bill Hornbuckle, MGM Resorts’ acting CEO and president, in a statement. “As we plan for these openings, the health and safety of our guests and employees is at the forefront of all we do. Getting many of our employees back to work and welcoming guests through our doors once again will allow us to do what we do best, entertain. The team is ready and we can’t wait.”
All of these casino resorts will be reopening with new protocols and procedures in place designed in conjunction with medical and scientific experts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Key initiatives include:
- Employee screening, temperature checks and COVID-19 specific training.
- COVID-19 testing offered for employees as they return to work in partnership with the local medical community.
- Mandatory face masks.
- Physical distancing. For areas where physical distancing presents challenges, plexiglass barriers will be installed, or other measures will be used to reduce risks.
- Contactless check-in.
Digital menus will be available to view on personal mobile devices via QR codes in the company’s food and beverage outlets.
