Did you know that there’s a human trafficking app that allows you to report suspicious behavior as you travel for business?

This human trafficking app, known as the STOP APP, lets users anonymously report any suspicious behavior or incidents anywhere across the globe. Downloadable from Google Play and the App Store and available in 7 languages, it allows users to submit suspicious activity quickly by sending text messages and uploading photos and videos.

The app is offered by STOP THE TRAFFIK, a charity registered in the UK. All information reported by the app is entered into STOP THE TRAFFIK’s secure database, where it is combined with other data  to produce reports for authorities, organizations, communities and individuals.

STOP THE TRAFFIK was founded in 2006 as a campaign coalition to bring an end to human trafficking worldwide and gained notoriety in 2008, when they presented 1.5 million signatures to the United Nations, along with a statement that human trafficking will not be ignored.

Another app used widely in the U.S called TraffickCam allows hotel guests to download  photos of their hotel rooms whenever they travel, which are then uploaded to a database that investigators can cross-reference with the photos posted online of traffick victims in the hotel rooms where they are being held.

To learn more about how you can help combat human trafficking, contact ECPAT-USA, which has been a vocal voice in creating awareness among meeting planners and rallying hospitality companies to train their employees in identifying the signs of trafficking. ECPAT offers free tools and resources, as well as a training module for meeting planners. Learn more here.
