July 4

This July 4, there is reason to celebrate, with all signs pointing to a reopening with few restrictions of all 50 states by the national holiday.

According to The New York Times, the holdout states for the July 4 deadline are: Hawaii, which will open once 70 percent of residents have been fully vaccinated; Michigan, which reopens July 1; New Mexico, which will reopen once 60 percent of residents have been fully vaccinated; Oregon, which will open once 70 percent of residents 18 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine; and Washington, which will reopen June 30 or sooner if 70 percent of residents 16 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine.

Many states have also eased their mask requirements for those who are fully vaccinated, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recent change in guidelines, saying that the fully vaccinated can unmask both indoors and outdoors.

The Times publishes a U.S. map illustrating mask mandates that it updates regularly, as well as a state-by-state rundown of reopening and masking news, including listings by types of facilities (restaurants, casinos, etc).

At Meeting Professionals International’s WEC, happening this week in Las Vegas, there is no requirement for attendees to share their vaccination status or take a COVID-19 test beforehand. In its Duty of Care statement, the association said: “Wearing a mask indoors is not required, but those on site who are unvaccinated or immunocompromised are expected to wear a mask.”
