Here’s the scoop on hotels and destination openings for travelers:

Caribbean

A comprehensive guide as to what is opening when.

Bahamas

Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation is preparing for Phase 2 of its Tourism Readiness and Recovery Plan, which will begin on Wednesday, July 1 and allow for the resumption of international travel to The Bahamas, with the exception of visitors from China, Iran, Italy and France.

Atlantis Paradise Island announced that the resort property, located on Paradise Island in The Bahamas, would welcome guests to The Royal and Harborside Resort beginning July 7 and The Cove on July 14,  as part of a phased reopening, and is offering guests a travel offer to entice them.

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is currently in Phase 3 of reopening; on July 1 it will move to Phase 4, and finally on July 15, the island officially reopens for international travelers. There are currently a variety of guidelines to help protect the public health among those are social distancing to limiting the group sizes to an island wide curfew.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is nearing a border reopening date on July 1 (subject to change based on the progression of the virus around the world), and once travelers head back to the country they can expect new health and safety protocols at hotels and throughout the destination, including a set of 15 protocols designed by the Minister of Health, with the support of the Costa Rica Tourism Board. The protocols unite the efforts of the public and private sector.

St. Lucia

The borders of Saint Lucia officially opened to international travelers on June 4, 2020 as part of Phase One of the responsible reopening plan.

Jamaica

Jamaica reopened its borders for international travelers on June 15. Additionally, an extensive set of operational protocols were announced, including health screening before entry and upon entry, which will be implemented to manage risks to workers, communities and travelers.

Atlantic City

Atlantic City’s casinos have the go-ahead to reopen on July 2 at 25 percent capacity. Among those resorts reopening are Hard Rock on July 2; Bally’s, Caesars, and Harrah’s Resort on July 3, and Borgata on July 6.

Florida

Vice President Mike Pence participated in a roundtable discussion at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando with Gov. Ron DeSantis and hospitality and tourism industry leaders discussing reopening Florida and the economy in general amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As Orlando’s theme parks, attractions, and hotels introduce new enhanced safety measures and are reopening to welcome travelers, Visit Orlando has created a new webinar series to inform U.S. and Canadian travel advisors of the latest updates from the destination, including many of their new safety programs, to help advise their clients.

The three-part series begins June 30 and will feature speakers from theme parks such as Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment; sports team the Orlando Magic; attractions Gatorland and Icon Park in the popular International Drive tourism district; as well as resorts such as the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin and Westgate Resorts.

Mohegan Sun & Foxwoods

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort Casino have reopened for the first time since closing in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Las Vegas

On the heels of reopening its first three Las Vegas properties, MGM Resorts International will be bringing several of its resorts online in the weeks ahead. Luxor and The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay Place reopened on June 25. They will be followed by ARIA and Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons Las Vegas, on July 1.

They join Bellagio, MGM Grand, and New York-New York, which opened earlier this month and Excalibur, which opened on June 11.

Paris Las Vegas opened its doors on June 18 following successful reopenings of Caesars Palace, Flamingo and Harrah’s. The gaming floor and other amenities at The LINQ Hotel + Experience opened on June 12.
