Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on April 14 has been transformed into a virtual day of learning and sharing including a quest to create the biggest virtual meeting in history.
Here are the highlights of the new GMID:
GMID Virtual Broadcast
Hosted by Meeting Professionals International, this full-day summit will focus on the tools and skills relevant to moving forward in this unique global situation. The virtual summit will connect with industry leaders and peers from around the world in a live. 12-hour global broadcast to share learnings that are immediately actionable and relevant. Subjects will include virtual event experience design, lean tips for small businesses, marketing in a new virtual world, and mindfulness in difficult times.
Record-Breaking Webcast
Meetings professionals are invited to join a first-of-its-kind 90-minute webcast, “GMID Goes Virtual,” and help break the world record for the largest virtual meeting in history. The webcast will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Largest Audience For a Virtual Conference. Hosted by Meetings Mean Business Canada, India and the United States, the interactive session is designed to provide attendees with a forum to have their voices heard while contributing to valuable industry research. The record-breaking attempt will be followed by a discussion of COVID-19 and its impact.

Industry professionals are going above and beyond to help address the COVID-19 crisis, even as meetings are being cancelled and business travel is postponed. The Meetings Mean Business Coalition wants to ensure that every story is told and invites meeting professionals to share examples of how the meetings industry is helping communities and the role that they are playing, such as donating supplies, funds and space to ease the burden of this unanticipated and unprecedented situation.
