Medical Meetings Just Gained a New Venue

Mayo Clinic

A perfect position near the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Civic Center gives this new hotel in Rochester, Minnesota, an edge in medical meetings.

A climate controlled pedestrian skyway connects the new Hilton Rochester Mayo Clinic Area, a 19-story, 264-room hotel with 20,000 sf of meeting space, to the Mayo Clinic Campus and Mayo Civic Center. Being directly connected to the second largest convention center in the state makes the hotel a convenient venue for medical training, meetings and events. And while newly opened, Hilton Rochester Mayo Clinic is already the go-to venue for a number of accredited continuing education programs organized and led by Mayo Clinic experts, who are also available for lectures and quite possibly workshops or breakout sessions.

The Scoop

The hotel’s event space spans two floors with room for up to 500 attendees for a banquet, and 800 using theater-style seating. Its two ballrooms feature 19-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic city views. There are three configurable breakout rooms as well as a fifth-floor outdoor reception terrace and designated registration areas, and WiFi is complimentary. Attendees seeking to stay in shape while on the road will have access to a 24-hour fitness center and indoor heated pool. The hotel also has two restaurants and an executive floor with spacious rooms and suites and its own lounge.

Downtime

Hilton Rochester’s central location puts it within walking distance of a choice of restaurants and shops—all connected via climate-controlled subterranean or skyway passages. In their free time, attendees can catch a performance at the Rochester Civic Theater, take a trolley tour of the city, a Historic Mayowood Mansion tour, or venture into the rural estate of Dr. Charles Mayo, co-founder of the Mayo Clinic. Top all of this off with a “Sips of the City” tour, featuring sips from some of the city’s breweries and wineries (11 vineyards and wineries in all).
