The MPI Houston Disaster Relief Fund plans to collect funds through September 30, 2017.

MPI President and CEO Paul Van Deventer has announced a disaster relief fund for Houston chapter members affected by Hurricane Harvey.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to all those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and especially to members of our Houston Area and Gulf States chapters,” he said in an e-mail to members. “Please join us in sending warm thoughts and prayers now and in the months ahead to the affected communities.”

The MPI Houston Disaster Relief Fund plans to collect funds through September 30, 2017, and donate them soon thereafter to members in need. For more information or to make a donation, visit their YouCaring webpage. As this story was posted, it had raised $1,422 of its $15,000 goal.

In addition, Van Deventer announced that MPI would waive membership dues for one full year as part of its Natural Disaster Aid Program. “We will also further support the affected chapters by continuing to fund the rebate for those members who apply and are approved for the hardship membership.”

He encouraged members of the meeting planning community at large to support one of the many national organizations such as the American Red Cross and Salvation Army, as well as local food banks, animal rescue groups, and more helping with relief efforts.
