A new 60-room boutique hotel is coming to Grand View Lodge, Spa and Golf Resort on Gull Lake, Minn., as part of a property-wide expansion that also includes 5,000 sf of conference space, an expanded spa, new recreation center and residential offerings that will make the resort the state’s largest.

The hotel, fittingly dubbed North, will debut next May, bringing the resort’s room count to 269 cottages, vacation homes and hotel rooms that can accommodate groups up to 1,500 attendees. Its design will offer a modern take on the current cabin-style look of the resort. Located near the main lodge, the hotel will also offer close proximity to the resort’s outdoor activities. Attendees will be able to choose from boating, biking, golfing and fishing, while the resort can also organize team building opportunities such as rafting, bridge building, scavenger hunts and geocaching.

Groups hoping to take advantage of the relaxed setting will appreciate the spa expansion, with eight new treatment rooms (for a total of 19) in addition to an outdoor Japanese soaking pool, expanded women’s locker room and new relaxation area. The recreation center will bring more active entertainment into the mix, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, a cornhole stadium (yes, stadium!), sand volleyball courts, ice skating rinks, basketball course, mini golf course, lawn bowling and courts for croquet, pickle ball and tennis. And that’s not all: A yoga studio and fitness center will round out its offerings.

While the expansion will create a new feel for the resort, it will still maintain the bucolic charm that’s attracted groups to Gull Lake for more than 100 years now. In addition to its seemingly never-ending activities, several indoor and outdoor meeting spaces give meeting planners an abundance of options for planning an event. Its 1,500-foot natural sand beach, Beach Lawn, is a crowd favorite, touting sunset views and the tranquil sound of waves crashing in the backdrop.
