30 senior planners from companies ranging from Land O’Lakes to DowDuPont converged on Nobu Hotel Miami Beach this week to sharpen their strategic skills at the Prevue Visionary Summit.

The education kicked off with a dynamic keynote by Ed Brodow, who has been called “the top negotiation speaker in the world” by Learning Dynamics, and who taught the group to approach negotiations like a…bonobo. Bonobos are known for their peaceful demeanor, while chimpanzees, on the other hand, can be aggressive and hostile. Sound familiar?

Other speakers included Christy Lamagna of Strategic Meetings & Events, who focused on effective strategic communication strategies, and Alex Plaxen of Little Bird Told Media, who shared communication disaster stories from meetings gone terribly wrong, including the infamous Fyre Festival, as well as tactics for communicating during crises. The chief marketing officer of SITE and co-founder of SoolNua, Padraic Giliigan, addressed the group via videoconference from Dublin, Ireland, sharing his thoughts on the emerging concept of “transformational” incentive travel.

Salsa dancers at the fabulous Miami-style opening reception on Nobu’s Spa Terrace

Nobu Hotel Miami Beach rolled out the red carpet for the VIP group, starting with a Miami-style evening on its fabulous Spa Terrace overlooking the ocean. Highlights included local musicians, salsa dancers, a make-your-own-sangria bar, an Argentinian-style Parillada station and complimentary Revo sunglasses for the group. Best of all, a percentage of all Revo sales benefit a nonprofit focused on eradicating blindness. The next day, the group feasted on specialties from the Miami Beach outpost of Malibu Farm, located right on property.
