Many of Puerto Rico’s attractions and experiences, with some modifications, should be ready to receive reservations by November or December.

Milton Segarra, president and CEO of Meet Puerto Rico, shared the latest hurricane update from Puerto Rico this week, emphasizing that the tourism industry there is still in the assessment phase.

“We are pleased that our Puerto Rico Convention Center did not withstand any significant damages and proud that it is being used as the headquarters for government officials directing relief efforts as well as being used as a refugee/rescue center for those requiring medical attention,” he said.

He added that Luiz Munoz Marin International Airport is fully operational and running international and domestic flights. Information on regional airports can be found here. The cruise port is expected to resume operations on October 7 with the departure of Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas.

Many hotels are housing local and international relief workers, law enforcement and other government officials as well guests, and in some cases providing wi-fi hotspots. Closed hotels include Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve; W Retreat & Spa in Vieques; Grand Melia; and Wyndham Grand Rio Mar. Other hotels are open but not accepting reservations until later this fall, among them El Conquistador, Caribe Hilton, El San Juan and San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. Follow this link for an updated status of anticipated opening dates for new bookings.

In addition, many of Puerto Rico’s attractions and experiences, with some modifications, should be ready to receive reservations by November or December.

If you would like to help, United for Puerto Rico, an initiative brought forth by the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, in collaboration with the private sector, was created to provide aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane María.
