Hotel santization protocols

Along with high-tech meeting spaces and stunning settings, elevated hotel sanitization protocols will be a duty of care requirement and a selling point for hotels moving forward.

Here are hotel sanitization protocols being taken by hotel companies and destinations. Always be sure to check the CDC web site for updates on COVID-19 safety procedures as they relate to meetings.

Marriott International

Marriott will be rolling out a multi-pronged approach. As part of this effort, which will introduce new cleaning technology, guest contact policies, and food safety protocols, the company is introducing The Marriott Global Cleanliness Council focused on developing the next level of global hospitality cleanliness standards, norms and behaviors that will minimize risk and enhance safety for consumers and Marriott associates.

Wynn Resorts

Wynn has developed a comprehensive health safety program that it is putting in place to prepare for its re-opening. A team of leading medical and public health professionals helped create the program based on the most effective health safety practices available. Among them will be cleaning products and protocols that meet EPA guidelines and are approved for use and effective against viruses, bacteria and other airborne and bloodborne pathogens; and increase in the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of all public spaces; and all bed linen and laundry will be changed daily and washed at a high temperature and in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Singapore Tourism Board

The Singapore Tourism Board has launched a plan to audit hotels nationwide and give them a clean bill of health if they meet seven criteria. The first hotel to be certified was Grand Hyatt Singapore.

The tourism board plans to audit and certify 570 hotels, attractions and other tourism establishments in the next two months and 37,000 eventually. An “SG Clean” stamp will be placed prominently at the establishments.

Assessment will be done by independent organizations such as KPMG. For hotels, the criteria include appointing an SG Clean manager to oversee the property’s practices; temperature and health screening of employees; arrangements for engaging external suppliers and contractors; cleanliness and hygiene practices; and compliance with health and travel advisories and government orders.
