Take the healthy meetings pledge!

At Prevue’s MeetWell Summit, being held January 27 to 29 at MGM Stay Well Conference Center in Las Vegas (in conjunction with the Incentive Research Foundation), we will kick off the event by taking the Healthy Meetings Pledge. You can, too!

Nearly half of our waking hours are spent at work—many of those in meetings. By committing to healthy meetings, your organization is supporting attendees’ efforts to eat well and stay active. There’s also a direct correlation between the food you serve and the productivity of the attendees during the event.

The Healthy Meetings Pledge, developed by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, has two options—the standard or superior—and several different categories. For example, for a Standard Healthy Meeting, you would commit to offering fruits and/or vegetables every time food is served, offering reasonably-sized entrees and appropriately-sized serving utensils and plates, and using whole grains whenever possible, while a Superior Healthy Meeting requires that all grains must be whole grain-rich (51% or more whole grains by weight or whole grain as the first ingredient); only poultry, fish, shellfish, or on occasion lean (unprocessed) meat options are served; and desserts and pastries are replaced with fruit or other healthful foods. It can be downloaded here.

There’s also a Healthy Meetings Toolkit that includes guidance on key components of a healthy meeting and resources to help make hosting healthy meetings easier.
