Already known for having the fifth-largest convention center in the nation, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas is about to fast-forward into the future of meetings with a $100 million investment to upgrade technology, signage and design.

How fast does your data need to move? Mandalay Bay recently installed new Cat6A Ethernet cabling throughout its convention center, doubling the frequency of data transmission and increasing speeds up to 9,400 percent—the equivalent of downloading a 4K movie in 30 seconds—while allowing for more reliable data transmission across greater distances.

The resort also has improved communication with attendees via dynamic new 24-ft x13-ft digital walls showcasing brand placements, sponsorship opportunities and targeted event messaging throughout the day. In addition, 20 new 55-inch, double-sided mobile display units allow attendees to find their meeting rooms with ease, while new RFID locks on all meeting room doors add convenience and security for planners, as does the installation of more than 200 motion-detection cameras throughout all spaces.

Surrounding these technological enhancements is a striking new look created by MGM Resorts International Design Group in collaboration with Las Vegas-based Dezmotif Studios, whose artful conceptions reflect Mandalay Bay’s tropical-inspired brand while incorporating contemporary design elements. Brighter lighting, streamlined signage and cozy seating nooks keep attendees energized during both crunch time and downtime, as new coral tones, floral patterns and warm walnut accent walls create a refreshing ambience, whether people are on the go or on a break.

Remodel highlights include: New Cat6A cabling throughout the convention center; 11 new dynamic digital signage walls; RFID locks on all meeting room doors; 200+ motion detection cameras throughout all meeting space; remodel of all pre-function spaces, meeting rooms and ballrooms; fresh paint, covered pillars and relocated strobe lights; breathtaking new works of fine art throughout; and complete redesign of the popular restaurant STRIPSTEAK.

Opened in 1999, Mandalay Bay has 3,209 rooms, including 355 suites, plus 1,117 suites at Delano Las Vegas. In addition to its extensive convention center, the resort also offers a multi-purpose, 12,000-seat venue for entertainment, sports, conferences and special events.
