Located on 600 acres in the foothills of Charlottesville, Boar’s Head Resort has introduced a series of updates to its recreational facilities and event spaces aimed at enhancing its offerings for meetings and group travel.

Just ahead of the summer season, the historic property is upgrading its championship golf course and unveiling a total renovation of its primary meetings venue, The Pavilion.
The enhancements also pave the way for the forthcoming Birdwood Mansion, a restored 19th-century estate that will debut as a luxury 7-room boutique hotel in fall 2025. Designed to accommodate executive retreats, intimate weddings and upscale gatherings, the mansion will offer a distinctive small-group experience within the larger resort setting, combining historic character with modern comfort.
New Padel Courts Join the Sports Lineup
Boar’s Head Sports Club has introduced three new padel courts, marking the resort’s embrace of one of the world’s fastest-growing sports. Padel joins the resort’s nationally ranked tennis and pickleball programs, recently named a top 25 global racquet sports resort by Tennis Resorts Online, making Boar’s Head an ideal destination for sports-themed group getaways and wellness retreats.
Golf Course Enhancements Add Championship Appeal
Meanwhile, the Birdwood Golf Course is undergoing a series of improvements to increase its appeal for tournaments and group play. In collaboration with Love Golf Design’s Scot Sherman, the course is adding five new tee boxes, including an extension of the 18th hole to over 500 yards—now playable as a par-5. These changes enhance the course’s competitive edge, building on the success of recently hosting the NCAA Women’s Regional Tournament.
The updates will be complete and available for play this summer, offering planners a scenic and challenging option for corporate outings and leisure programming.
The Pavilion Gets a Modern Makeover
Boar’s Head Resort also recently completed a full renovation of The Pavilion, its signature venue for conferences, retreats and social functions. With nearly 6,000 sf of flexible indoor space, the redesigned venue now features upgraded aesthetics and modern functionality.
