Feb 7 (Sat)
Allensworth Black History Month Festival, Earlimart CA
Founded in 1908, Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park is the only California town to be founded, financed and governed by African Americans. The small farming community foundered due to circumstances beyond their control, among them a drop in the area’s water table. Continuing restoration and special events are bringing the town back; join in a full-day festival with food vendors, tours, music and history.

Black History Luncheon & Black Night Market, Tacoma WA
The 4th annual Black Night Market at the Tacoma Armory will feature live music, interactive activities and more than 30 BIPOC-owned businesses offering everything from handcrafted art and fashion to skin care and delicious food.

Black Culture & Movement, University of Arizona
This university-hosted cultural celebration will feature performances, activities and food, with a DJ spinning music and a Black history activities table.

Black Connections to Nature Community Hike, Glendora CA
Prepare for a great teambuilding adventure as groups hop on the Big Dalton Canyon Trail with the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy for a 3-mile hike celebrating Black connections and leadership in nature.

We (re)Member US, Oakland CA
Described as “a public grief & joy ritual,” We (re)Member US is a guided, interactive, multi-channel voical and rhythmic ceremony, presented at the Black Panther Party Museum by Artist As First Responder & the Black Women in Mourning & Joy Collective.
Feb 19 (Thu)
Then & Now: 1776 and 2026 Lecture, Tacoma
Presented by the Washington State Historical Society at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum, this event celebrates the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by highlighting the lasting impact and historical importance of this foundational American document. A special tribute will honor Crispus Attucks, the American whaler, sailor and stevedore of African and Native American descent, recognized as the first casualty of the American Revolution.

BUILD Black History Month, Tacoma
Set at Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, this event will honor 100 years of Black History Month observances through storytelling, art, community and leadership. Featuring keynote speaker Professor Luther Adams, BUILD is part of a statewide celebration.

Freedom Quilt Fabric Mosaic with ToshWerks, San Diego
Groups can create an art project inspired by the historical quilts associated with slavery and the Underground Railroad. Offered on multiple dates at libraries across San Diego; materials will be provided.
Feb. 21
African American Festival – Aquarium of the Pacific, Los Angeles
Aquarium of the Pacific’s 24th annual African American Festival is will include the Aquarium’s Heritage Award ceremony. Groups will enjoy a day of music, dance and storytelling with the whole family.
