An industry leader in CSR, Caesars continues to achieve ambitious and diverse goals.
More than 23 years ago, Caesars Entertainment issued a Code of Commitment to “act in accordance with the highest ethical and legal standards, conduct our business with honesty and integrity, and respect internationally recognized human rights wherever we operate.” Today, the company has become an industry standard bearer for corporate social responsibility (CSR) in a variety of meaningful ways.
“At Caesars Entertainment, we’re committed to continuing to develop, diversify and achieve our CSR goals,” says Heather Rapp, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility for Caesars Entertainment,” speaking about Casears’ recently released 2023 CSR Report. “We’ve been in a period of progress as we met and exceeded our interim emission reduction goals three years ahead of schedule, and because of that work, we were able to implement new, more ambitious goals this year. Our success in our environmental impact category motivates us to keep growing and achieving in our CSR efforts across the board. We look forward to continuing to grow and make a difference in the communities where we live, work and play.”
CSR Report Takeaways
The report details progress in four critical areas for 2023:
Environmental Impact: After achieving emission reduction goals three years ahead of schedule in 2022, Caesars is implementing a new greenhouse gas reduction goal of 46.2 percent by 2030 from a 2019 baseline. Additionally, several initiatives were finalized in 2023 to improve the carbon profile and overall environmental impact of the Caesars Forum convention center in Las Vegas. This includes a green cleaning program, a system using data and feedback to ensure major mechanical systems are operating optimally and a composting program. The convention center has achieve Gold-level LEED certification.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: In 2023, Caesars held its first enterprise-wide Business Impact Group (BIG) summit, inviting leaders from across the country to attend a two-day workshop in Las Vegas. Participants shared learnings and best practices and developed strategies for each group moving forward.
Community Investment: The Caesars Makes Change program, piloted at one property in 2021, allows guests to donate a portion of their slot cash-out tickets to a charitable organization. The program expanded to nearly 40 Caesars Entertainment destinations across the country in 2023—with donations of more than $1.25 million to partner organizations, Meals on Wheels America and Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
Team Member Support: In 2023, Caesars introduced a quarterly publication for all salaried employees to stimulate self-development and professional growth. And company execs completed more than 3,100 learning programs offered through its “Leading the Empire” professional development program.
Among 2024 accolades, Caesars Entertainment recently earned a top score from the Disability Equality Index for the third year in a row and was awarded the title of Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion. In 2024 the company was also named one of USA Today’s Climate Leaders and one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for LGBTQ+ by Newsweek. Earlier this month, Caesars was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibly Award from the National Council on Problem Gambling, in recognition of its universal exclusion and 21+ gaming policies implemented in 2023.
