First Hospitality, a national hotel operating, management, and development company, has assumed management and operations of the Hyatt House and Hyatt Place Chicago – Medical/University District.
This dual-branded property marks First Hospitality’s fifth multi-brand hotel and expands the company’s Chicagoland presence to 16 properties.
The combined hotels feature 210 guest rooms in a historic landmark building at the heart of the Illinois Medical District. This is First Hospitality’s ninth historic property nationwide, underscoring the company’s commitment to revitalizing landmark buildings and aligning them with the needs of today’s travelers.
Other historic properties include Hotel LeVeque (Columbus, OH), Hotel Fort Des Moines (Des Moines, IA) and the Hotel Indy (Indianapolis, IN). The project also reflects First Hospitality’s expanding partnership with longtime owner Murphy Real Estate Services, with whom the company already operates voco Chicago Downtown and Holiday Inn Chicago Downtown, another dual-branded property.
“Expanding our portfolio with Hyatt House and Hyatt Place Chicago – Medical/University District highlights the strength of our continued relationship with Murphy Real Estate Services and our ability to deliver value across multi-brand properties,” said David Duncan, President and CEO of First Hospitality in a media statement. “We are especially proud to grow in our hometown of Chicago, while also adding to our portfolio of historic hotels.”
Hyatt House Chicago – Medical/University District offers apartment-style suites with kitchens, ideal for extended-stay guests, along with complimentary breakfast, a fitness center and relaxing common spaces.
In addition, the property caters to business and meeting travelers with flexible meeting spaces, complimentary breakfast, a fitness center and additional amenities. The property also features on-site dining at H Bar.
