Global Meetings Industry Day Toolkit: #MeetingsMatter

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A hands-on toolkit promoting Global Meetings Industry Day on April 11 gives planners templates to amplify the message.

Planners know the tangible and intangible value of meetings: to the economy, to communities, to tourism, to personal connections—the list goes on. But there can be a lack of awareness outside the industry. That’s where the U.S. Travel Association’s Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) kicks in. Designated on April 11 this year,  GMID boosts the #MeetingsMatter message to business leaders, elected officials and decision-makers. Last year’s GMID made 45 million social impressions, initiated 70 events in 35 countries, and garnered more than 365 mentions in the media.

For planners who want to help spread the word, the GMID Toolkit provides quick, easy-to-use messaging and templates for everything from social media posts to ways to engage with elected officials.

GMID Toolkit Resources

Among the Toolkit content:

• 5 Ways to Engage outlines the ways planners can get involved. This includes highlighting a meeting and noting the direct economic benefit and  face-to-face
connections the meeting was responsible for; utilizing social media to amplify the message  that meetings matter; hosting your own event to honor the activation of GMID; engaging with the media, local officials and members of Congress; and celebrating GMID within your local community.

• For all social channels including LinkedIn, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), the #GMD2024 Social Guide gives hashtags, channel links, visual image links, a video link and sample content for four different messages to use as-is or customize. For example: Today is Global Meetings Industry Day—a day to showcase why #MeetingsMatter to communities, businesses & economies across the country. The best communication doesn’t happen through a screen—it happens when you meet face-to-face. #GMID2024
