Business Events Industry WeekBusiness Events Industry Week heads to Washington, D.C., April 8-11 for a week-long showcase of the $1 trillion-plus global business events industry.

Save the date — April 8-11 — for this year’s Business Events Industry Week. The event, organized by  the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Destinations International (DI), will bring meeting industry members to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., to participate in a variety of events designed to showcase the power and reach of the more-than $1 trillion business events industry.

One of these events is the Convention Sales and Services Summit. The convention, designed specifically for convention sales and services professionals, includes a day-and-a-half series of in-depth discussions, peer-to-peer problem-solving in a hackathon-style format, and dedicated programming designed for sales, services and executive leadership in separate tracks.

The Business Events Industry Week’s series of events also include the PCMA Global Leadership Conference, an invitation-only event to be held at the JW Marriott, Washington D.C., on April 9. At the conference, PCMA Board of Directors, Regional Advisory Board members, partners and chapter leaders will focus on how best to position the industry for the future, including what educational opportunities will be needed. Also on April 9, the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (NCBMP) will hold a session at the Washington Post Building on the effects of toxic corporate culture on Black professional’s work and life balance.

The Business Events Industry Week event also will include an exploration of the future of association meetings led by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). In this session, participants will learn about the role of associations in societal transformation, as well as engage with association peers and suppliers to collaboratively identify solutions.

Also a part of BEIW 2024 will be the International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ (IAEE) Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF). The WLF, which is open to women in all phases of their careers, will include roundtables and presentations on topics including how to adapt to change, think creatively, balance professional and personal lives, and avoid burnout and exhaustion. It also will include networking breaks to encourage peer-to-peer sharing.

On Wednesday, April 10, there will be a full-day Showcase where meeting and event industry professionals can connect with venues, destination, and service and technology providers through booth experiences and experiential activations. To encourage interaction and engagement, the Showcase is themed as a cross-country road trip — including a Roadside Diner where attendees can munch and mingle.

The final day of the BEIW 2024, April 11, caps off the week with the PCMA Foundation Visionary Awards. The awards, which recognize and honor professionals that are making significant impacts and contributions to their organizations and companies, will take place at the convention center. See a full list of the finalists and honorees for the Visionary Awards here.

In addition to PCMA and DI, BEIW 2024 partners include Destination DC, Events DC, IAEE, ICCA and the NCBMP.
