Ayan Zalaat Hotel & Spa near Mongolia’s capital city welcomes groups for singular, culturally grounded experiences.

The newly opened Ayan Zalaat Hotel & Spa close to Mongolia’s capital city of Ulaanbaatar is the flagship luxury destination from Ayan Hotels & Resorts. Tucked away on a private estate in the Zalaat Valley near the Bogd Khan Uul UNESCO Biosphere Reserve—one of the world’s oldest protected natural areas—it is an exotic retreat that speaks to restorative luxury. Zalaat Valley has been revered since the 12th century as a place of spiritual study and retreat, drawing monks to its quiet hills for meditation and reflection. Now, top-tier incentive attndees who have ‘been there, done that,’ can experience a bespoke cultural sanctuary. The 32-room property features ten distinctive dining and social venues, expansive wellness and cultural spaces, and immersive experiences typically found in resorts several times its size.

The hotel’s entertainment areas, such as the luxurious Ayan Theatre, can also be reserved for group functions. Audiovisual equipment, including sound systems, microphones and presentation screens, is complimentary. Planners can pair events with curated cultural programming, integrated wellness experiences and private entertainment options.

Throughout the hotel, custom-designed furniture, millwork and Italian marble elements were created by an international network of artisans who brought European craftsmanship into dialogue with Mongolia’s cultural and natural landscape. For immersive group excursions beyond the hotel, Ayan Zalaat curates bespoke journeys across Mongolia, working with intimate camps, off-road expeditions and small-plane partners to access remote regions.

“Ayan Zalaat was envisioned as a place where many experiences could coexist within one setting,” said Tselmuun Nyamtaishir, Founder and CEO of Ayan Hotels & Resorts, “combining culture, wellness, dining, entertainment, and gathering space. More than a single opening, it reflects our commitment to shaping the future of tourism in Mongolia.”

A second phase of development will expand Ayan Zalaat with 21 residential villas, plus a 16-story sports center with 63 hotel rooms and a ballroom that accommodates up to 400. Recreational facilities here—including tennis, basketball, and curling—will be adaptable for events. Plans also include introducing a helicopter service and luxury glamping experiences.
