More than six years in the making, a property-wide revitalization of the iconic Hotel Del delivers a wow for meetings and incentives.
The legendary Hotel del Coronado encompasses a seaside campus of five distinct neighborhood experiences: Shore House, LXR Hotels & Resorts at The Del with luxury villa accommodations; the tony Beach Village, LXR Hotels & Resorts; The Cabanas, with refined coastal design; The Views, the hotel’s home-base for coastal adventure experiences and activities; and the iconic Victorian building, now gleaming from a heat-to-toe restoration. This marks the end of a six-year, property-wide renovation by Blackstone Real Estate that invested more than $550 million to revitalize all areas of the resort. The result carefully integrates historic accuracy and lovingly restored original details with contemporary comfort. “From its earliest days, Hotel del Coronado has been a pioneer, continuously redefining the resort experience,” said Managing Director JP Oliver. “After this transformative journey, we are proud to set a new benchmark for resort excellence and continue exceeding expectations for a new era of guests and visitors.”
The Del’s Victorian Neighborhood Revitalization
Included in the now-complete Victorian neighborhood revitalization are meticulous restorations of its front porch, lobby, main entry drive and Victorian garden courtyard. All guest rooms and event spaces have been renovated. There are also two new restaurants: The Veranda, with ocean-view al fresco dining and Nobu Del Coronado, blending Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature style with local California flavors. Nobu has 3,700 sq ft of oceanfront dining space for private events.

Hotel del Coronado’s sumptuous Victorian ballrooms—the Crown Room, Coronet Room, and Ocean Ballroom—have all undergone renovations that integrate historical preservation with state-of-the-art technology. Key features include refinished original wood floors, rehabilitated historic wood finishes and installation of updated lighting and sound systems. In the Ocean Ballroom, renovations included the rediscovery and preservation of an 1888 fresco, refreshed wall coverings and carpeting, increased square footage due to to the removal of a non-historic back-of-house area and restoration of the historic built-in stage. The famed Crown room is an architectural masterpiece that hosted a banquet with England’s Prince of Wales in 1920 and the first state dinner held outside the White House in 1970, among other storied events. The iconic venue is known for its dramatic 33-foot high ceiling dome and it’s crown chandeliers installed in 1911 and credited to Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum. The restoration of this space includes refurbishment of the original wood, replacement of non-historic entry doors to match the originals, electrical upgrades and refreshed carpeting and wall sconces.

Hotel del Coronado’s 404 redesigned Victorian guest rooms juxtapose the property’s rich heritage with luxe modern accents. No two guest rooms are exactly alike. Inviting decor lightens up Victorian aesthetics with bright floral textiles that reference the hotel’s lush gardens. Furnishings combine caning and wicker with deep wood tones, with classically curved headboards crafted from woven vinyl raffia. The modern lighting scheme has traditional accents such as Victorian-styled light fixtures and blue and white Chinoiserie lamps. Bathrooms feature spacious vanities inspired by antique washstands and classic checkerboard marble flooring.
