Rauhalinna is a 100-year old historic villa located in Finland that has undergone an extensive renovation to restore its original glory.

The property offers a high service level, luxury facilities and a picturesque setting that makes it a compelling incentive destination.

After completing a $17.5 million restoration in 2024, Rauhalinna is now open to the public and can accommodate up to 20 guests in the historic villa as well as an adjacent modern guest house with six spacious bedrooms.

Located on the shores of Lake Saimaa in Savonlinna, around 200 miles north of Finland’s capital of Helsinki, Rauhalinna translates to “Peace Castle,” and boasts more than 240 acres of private land and two miles of shoreline.

Its five-star accommodations include three suites and one twin room in the Lace Villa, two double rooms in its Saloonhouse and four suites in its Guesthouse. All the suites in the Lace Villa and the Guesthouse have double beds, and all the bedrooms and suites have ensuite bathrooms except the twin room in the Lace Villa which has its own bathroom in the corridor.

Luxury Spaces for Gathering and Relaxation

The Villa’s spaces include a banquet hall where guests can enjoy gala dinners with musical performances, a club room featuring a billiard table that is suitable for casual gatherings and 65-ft-high tower offering stunning views of the surroundings. The property features three saunas, with one located in the Pavilion House (an exact replica of the original building that once stood in its place); one located in the modern lakeside sauna building; plus a smoke sauna, which is the most traditional form of Finnish sauna. As well as a hot tub located on the private beach, the property offers its own swimming deck and a private pier that allows guests to arrive by steamboat or even by helicopter.

During the summer months, the city of Savonlinna is known for its Opera Festival, which offers a luxury opera experience located in the historic Olavinlinna Castle. Lake Saimaa provides a home to the Saimaa ringed seal, which is one of the rarest seals in the world, and can often be seen basking on the shores by Rauhalinna. The natural beauty of the lake and its islands are best experienced aboard an authentic steamboat, while other seasonal activities can include mushroom foraging in the spring and fall, hiking, biking, water activities, ice fishing and sometimes sightings of the Northern Lights in winter.
