Meeting and incentive planners looking for an exclusive European venue now have a new option in Montenegro.

Mamula Island by Banyan Tree, a 32-room luxury resort set on a private island at the entrance to the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor, is available for full-island buyouts, offering a secluded setting for weddings, private events and retreats.

The opening also marks Banyan Tree’s first resort in Europe, expanding Banyan Group‘s luxury portfolio into the region while introducing a distinctive buyout property to the MICE market.

Historic Fortress for Events & Groups

Occupying a restored 19th-century fortress, the resort enters its first full season under the Banyan Tree brand following a seven-year restoration that preserved the site’s historic architecture while incorporating contemporary accommodations and the brand’s signature wellness experiences.

Guests arrive via private boat transfer across Boka Bay or by helicopter from Dubrovnik or Tivat, creating an exclusive arrival experience. Once on the island, planners can utilize a variety of event spaces, including the historic fortress, open-air terraces, landscaped gardens and beachfront settings for receptions and private events.

The resort offers 32 guest rooms and suites, all with Adriatic Sea views. Heritage Suites preserve original stonework and architectural details, while newly built accommodations feature contemporary interiors and private terraces.

For incentive groups, the property combines wellness, dining and outdoor experiences that can be incorporated into customized itineraries. Banyan Tree Spa includes hydrotherapy facilities, flotation experiences, saunas and signature treatments, while activities range from kayaking, paddleboarding and e-biking to guided excursions to Kotor Old Town, the Blue Cave, Skadar Lake and Lovćen National Park.

The resort’s culinary program highlights regional ingredients and Adriatic seafood across four venues. Parasol focuses on seafood-driven cuisine, Kamena showcases locally sourced produce overlooking the sea, Celeste serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes in an outdoor setting and Pinea Bar offers cocktails and evening entertainment.
