Start planning for all of Los Angeles’ new and next big things, including airport transformations, a unique lineup of hotels and stirring attractions.
The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is amid a $14 billion modernization program that includes major renovations to the terminals and the long-awaited People Mover. This monorail will connect all terminals of the airport to public transportation and allow for greater ease of travel to and from the rest of the city. The People Mover is expected to open in 2023.
The excitement in LA continues with new Downtown properties for your attendees. With 2,100 new rooms added in 2021 and more on the horizon, hotels from boutique properties to luxury concepts are popping up all over LA. Notably, The Conrad Los Angeles is Downtown’s brand new centerpiece, designed by Frank Gehry and the first Conrad on the West Coast. Additionally, the Fairmont Century Plaza reopened in 2021 after a $2.5 billion renovation that modernized the iconic property and maintained touches of its history.
On the heels of these properties will be a new duo opening in late 2022 in Downtown LA: the dual-branded Moxy and AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. Located directly across from the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena, these two unique properties will be under one roof and house 655 guest rooms. Moxy Downtown Los Angeles will feature 13 restaurants, bars and clubs, four outdoor terraces and a pool deck overlooking the city’s skyline. An elevator ride away, the AC Hotel Downtown will include a light-filled bar and lounge, intimate library and rooftop garden.
These exciting developments in LA’s hotel scene are among the many upcoming and recent additions sweeping through Los Angeles. In 2021, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures opened its doors – fittingly, in the city synonymous with cinema. As the largest U.S. institution devoted to the arts, sciences and artists of moviemaking, the venue houses iconic film history. It boasts 50,000 square feet of gallery space, two theaters, dynamic indoor-outdoor event spaces and a rooftop with views of the Hollywood Hills – a breathtaking backdrop to any event.
In 2023, Exposition Park—home to the California Science Center, Banc of California Stadium and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum—will get an addition in the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. The large gallery will be complemented by two theaters, event space and an 11-acre park surrounding.
