The trendy Thompson Hotels brand from Two Roads Hospitality is coming to Texas with the opening of three properties in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston—each with their own Texas-inspired design.

“[Texas] is home to some of America’s fastest growing cities, each rich in history, culinary and the arts,” says Niki Leondakis, CEO of Hotels & Resorts, Two Roads Hospitality. “We’re excited for Thompson to inject new life into downtown Dallas, San Antonio and Houston, and we are collaborating with leading Texas developers and architects who are deeply rooted in the Lone Star State to bring locally inspired design and amenities to our guests.”

The first property on the docket is the Thompson Dallas at The Drever, which will be located in the 50-story, mixed-use Drever tower within the city’s business district. Formerly the First National Bank of Dallas, the iconic Dallas tower was designed for Texas oilman H.L. Hunt to mimic a banker’s pinstripe suit. The 217-room hotel design will piggyback off this design, combining original elements such as white marble and solar gray glass with Texas-inspired artworks from local artists in the public areas. Event spaces will comprise a 4,000-sf ballroom, 50th-floor rooftop observation deck as well as onsite restaurants and bars.

Launching in 2019, the 167-room Thompson San Antonio will follow suit. Located within San Antonio’s new Art District, the 20-story property will be adjacent to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and will incorporate design elements that reflect the city’s colorful River Walk. Oversized guest rooms and suites and 56 luxury residential condominium units are just the beginning of what will be available for groups.

With planning still underway, Thompson Houston will be the third Texas property to open under the Thompson Hotels brand. It, too, will combine Thompson trademark elements with Texas-inspired experiences.
