Omni Hotels & Resorts has officially broken ground on the Omni Midland Hotel, marking the company’s 12th property in Texas and bringing new meetings and events infrastructure to Midland.
Omni is developing the project in partnership with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP, to meet growing demand for meetings and conventions in West Texas, particularly given its proximity to the George H.W. Bush Convention Center.
“We are proud to see this project come to life,” said Kurt Alexander, President of Omni Hotels & Resorts, in a media statement. “Omni Midland honors the city’s storied history and reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding land. We are grateful to our partners for helping make this vision a reality, and we look forward to becoming the living room for Midland where visitors, guests, residents and business leaders gather for meetings, celebrations and community events for years to come.”

New Meetings Space and Event Capabilities
The Omni Midland Hotel will feature approximately 16,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space and will accommodate corporate gatherings, association meetings and social events. A 5,640-square-foot ballroom will anchor the property, while an executive boardroom with park views and an outdoor terrace connected to the function space will provide additional options for receptions and networking events.
The hotel layout offers planners a mix of indoor and outdoor venues and supports a range of meeting formats, from board meetings to mid-size conferences.
Texas-based design partners, including HKS Architects, Looney & Associates and The Design Agency, are shaping the project to reflect Midland’s heritage and ongoing growth. They are creating public spaces, dining venues and event areas to serve both visitors and the local community and to establish the hotel as a destination within the downtown core.
In addition to its meeting and events infrastructure, the property will include 143 guest rooms, including a Presidential Suite, along with amenities that support group and incentive travel. These include three dining concepts—featuring Bob’s Steak & Chop House—as well as a rooftop pool deck and a full-service spa with wellness facilities. An 800-space parking garage will provide convenient access for both hotel guests and convention attendees.
