A $285 million addition to the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., is expected to break ground this quarter, including a new 14-story wing with 550 rooms, one-third of them suites. There will be 67,000 square feet of event and pre-function space for meetings, opening the resort up to even larger groups.
Some of the most impressive additions will greet guests when their meetings end for the day. A new resort-style pool complex is being designed by the same company that created the pool landscapes at many Las Vegas resorts, including Bellagio and Wynn. Also new, a 23,000-sf spa will feature 17 treatment rooms and a terrace with hydrotherapy pools. There will be
two new restaurants added to Pechanga’s 11, including a pool grille restaurant with a roof top view and a restaurant and bar in the lobby of the new wing.
Even as the resort expands, planners are able to create intimate experiences for their groups. One idea: Plan a private poker tournament run by professional poker staff for no extra rental charge inside the 43-table Pechanga Poker Room. Or private bingo events for groups of 10 to 200 can use the Pechanga Bingo facility, with dozens of flat-screen TVs and electronic handheld bingo tablets.
Out on the golf course, Head Instructor Randy Chang offers private lessons for groups, from beginner to expert. The 18-hole Journey at Pechanga course has been rated one of the top public courses in California. Off site, planners can book a complimentary tour of the Great Oak Tree, the oldest known living live coastal oak tree in the United States, for up to 20 people. It is estimated to be 1,500 years old and is sacred to the native Pechanga people.
A recent multimillion dollar renovation at Pechanga added responsibly sourced marble flooring to the lobby, along with a rain chandelier that has become its focal point, and upgraded its Jacuzzi suites with new décor and technology.
Construction on the new wing is expected to last two years.
