The Henley Passport Index has released its January 2026 ranking of the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.
The data shows Singapore ranking in first place with access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan and South Korea in joint second place with access to 188 countries.
Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland rank next in joint third place with access to 186 countries, followed by Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Norway in joint fourth place with access to 185 destinations. While joint fifth place goes to Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and United Arab Emirates with access to 184 destinations. The U.S. comes in at 10th place in the rankings with access to 179 countries.
The Henley Passport Index is the only index of its kind with historical data spanning 20 years and based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA). The index includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations and is updated monthly. It is considered the standard reference tool for global citizens and sovereign states when assessing where a passport ranks on the global mobility spectrum.
