The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is embarking on a historic $275 million transformation, marking the most significant expansion in the property’s history. This ambitious project will add 120,000 sf of cutting-edge event space, elevating its status as a premier destination for meetings and conventions.
As one of the largest convention properties on the East Coast, the Swan and Dolphin will now offer a total of 469,000 sf of event space across its three hotels—the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve.
The expansion includes a new two-story annex, seamlessly connected to the existing convention center. This addition will feature 41,000 sf of multi-purpose space and 24,000 sf of pre-function space on the first floor. Above, an elegant ballroom will span another 43,000 sf, complemented by a 14,000-sf pre-function foyer. Designed with a contemporary aesthetic, the new space will incorporate elements from Michael Graves’ original vision, blending water-inspired themes with warm wooden textures.
Attendees will enter through a grand atrium illuminated by natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, complete with a winding staircase and an elegant two-story chandelier. The expansion enhances not only space but also functionality, allowing for larger gatherings and multiple simultaneous events. To further support growing demand, additional outdoor power and infrastructure will accommodate temporary event structures in an environmentally friendly manner.
“This transformation is a game-changer,” said Sean Verney, Area General Manager. “We’re creating an unparalleled event experience that keeps our property at the forefront of the global meetings industry.”
Beyond new construction, the existing 333,000 sf meeting space is being refreshed with modern designs and state-of-the-art technology. The Dolphin’s ballrooms, corridors and breakout rooms have already been upgraded with a bright, contemporary color scheme of whites, blues and grays, while similar enhancements are underway at the Swan, set for completion by summer 2025.
The guest experience is also evolving, with the Swan’s rooms undergoing a complete renovation, following the introduction of the luxurious Swan Reserve in 2021. These updates will provide a seamless blend of comfort, style and innovation.
With groundbreaking completion, the project is expected to be completed in late summer 2026, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is redefining what’s possible for meetings and conventions, delivering an unparalleled experience for attendees and guests alike.
